Inkworks Press Gains National Recognition Inkworks Press is proud to announce that we have received a major national environmental award for our full-color book of posters, Visions of Peace and Justice. American Printer, a leading print trade journal, will be presenting Inkworks a Gold Award for “Best Environmentally Produced Product” at the Graph Expo in Chicago. Graph Expo, an annual trade show, will occur during the last week of October at McCormick Place.
The book received this honor because of the environmentally sound way Inkworks produced the book, using highly recycled paper from New Leaf Paper and vegetable oil-based inks. Much of the printing was done on our KPG DirectPress, with the text pages printed on our Heidelberg SM 74 .
Visions of Peace and Justice previously won a Showcase of Excellence Gold Award from Printing Industries of Northern California (PINC) a local trade association. Besides printing Visions, Inkworks staff photographed all the 400 posters from our archive and designed the complete book. Respected activists like Carl Anthony, Angela Davis, Anuradha Mittal and others, contributed essays to give historic context to the thirty years of social struggle documented by the posters.
Inkworks Press also won a Certificate of Merit in recognition of our environmental practices for this inaugural awards program. American Printer received entries from printers all over the country, demonstrating that “green printing” has gained a foothold in the industry.
We at Inkworks appreciate the recognition these trade awards signify both for our manufacturing process, and for our mission of working with our community to further both peace and social justice. We would not be here today without the loyalty of our customers, who are the foundation upon which this thirty year-old project rests.
We wish to thank all our customers, some of whom have been with us from the beginning, for our continuing success.
